Brazilian Flute Orchestra
“João Dias Carrasqueira”
It was created in 1999 and is the only Flute Orchestra in Brazil which keeps weekly rehearsals and ranges the whole flute family, searching for the development of the flute in a new formation and having its participation in the activities at the conservatory of Tatuí.
Formed by 30 musicians, the Brazilian Flute Orchestra has developed pioneering work on the flute in Brazil, searching and creating its own repertoire which ranges from transcriptions of classical music to popular “Choros”; it firstly performed in Brazil in which concert included compositions specially written for this orchestra.
The BFO has already performed in many cities, such as: Tatuí, Indaiatuba, Itu, Presidente Prudente, Iguape, Santo Antônio do Pinhal, São Bento do Sapucaí, Tremembé, Santana de Parnaíba and Araraquara.
During its 5 years of existence, many flutists have joined the BFO, which has as a goal to give its musicians a very particular study on the flute and offer these flutists valuable experience for their careers. The conductor Juliano de Arruda Campos and eight musicians of this orchestra had the opportunity to participate in the International Summer Course in the city of Premeno (Italy) organized by the flutist Raffaele Trevisani, aimed at learning new techniques and developing further studies on the flute. They played in the last concert of this course among more than 60 flutists from all around the world. |
